She studied Interior Design at Ringling College of Art & Design, where she met Joel. For the next 5 years, Patty worked in architect and interior design firms doing space planning and design. She helped Joel start up his design firm in 1993, handling all matters financial, and creating delicious gourmet meals for hungry ADG designers on special occasions.Patty loves the beach, good coffee, and 80s music. In addition to being the person that writes paychecks and keeps ADG financially sound, Patty is a mother of 4, a fantastic cook, a savvy designer, and a model of order and common sense among a messy gaggle of artists. As a family business rooted in Nashville, Tennessee, it is our pleasure to donate travel posters and books to local charities who sell them at silent auctions to raise funds for their ongoing work.

Each client is approached with a special sensitivity to their unique project needs. The Spirit of Nashville collection was our maiden voyage into the world of poster design. Since 2003, we've created over 160 designs depicting what we love most about Music City. This video was produced by one of our clients after we created their logo and fell in love with their products.

Since 1993, our family owned business has been producing high-quality illustrated prints, books, and wall decor. We love what we do as visual communicators—and it shows when we illustrate, hand-letter, or design in our favorite 20th-Century travel poster styles. We custom-print each of our posters in-house using the highest-quality inks and papers. Our most popular collection of designs is our National Parks poster collection, the perfect choice for any American adventure. There's something about that romantic, hand-illustrated style that strikes a chord in us, pushing us to explore and practice our craft as graphic artists.

With over 3,000 designs and counting, we are continuing the grand tradition of the Golden Age of Poster Art for a whole new generation. After graduating from Ringling School of Art & Design in 1986, Joel moved to Music City and worked at Carden & Cherry Advertising for 7 years, winning an Emmy Award for his work on a CBS kid's show. He co-founded Anderson Thomas Design in 1993, producing countless award-winning creative projects. In 2007, Joel retooled the firm to specialize in branding packaging and poster art.

Joel launched Anderson Design Group's critically-acclaimed National Park Poster Series in 2016. A best-selling coffee table book followed the classic poster art, creating a demand for an entire line of coloring books, Adventure Guide Books, stickers, and other National Parks gifts and keepsakes. As a fan of Indian food, Star Wars, The Simpsons, all things Southern, Tom Petty, French cuisine, classical music, and peanut butter, you could say that Joel has a diverse palette. But did you know that Anderson Design Group is also an award-winning design & illustration firm? Founder Joel Anderson and our team of talented artists and designers have been creating illustration, hand-lettering, branding, book covers, product designs and posters since 1993.

Derek enjoys creating ideas from a narrator’s point of view, deciding what perspective tells the story most effectively. In his free time Derek enjoys exercising his creative muscle through multiple outlets, such as skateboarding with friends and playing music on his guitar. Derek is a sci-fi nerd at heart and lately has taken to creating fictional movie and video game poster art. Derek’s drive and passion to make poster art is fueled by the inspiring people he works with at ADG. In 2007, the partners decided to pursue different interests, so Joel reorganized the design firm as Anderson Design Group, Inc., narrowing the studio's focus to specialize in illustration and poster design. When Joel and the art team are not doing illustration work for clients, they create new poster art.

We love to encourage young artists

He has worked in the retail industry since 2007, helping folks have the best shopping experience possible, whether online or in-stores.

Our client list includes companies such as Universal Studios, Coors, Chrysler, Capitol One, MCA Records, Williams-Sonoma, Igloo Coolers, and Uinta Brewing. Born and raised in Kansas City, Derek (not related to ADG founder Joel Anderson) eventually made his way to Nashville where he studied graphic design and illustration at Watkins College of Art. During his senior year, Derek was an all-star intern with us, producing several posters that have been published in our various collections. His stellar work earned him a full-time staff position once he graduated in the spring of 2017.

Anderson Design Group, Inc. is an award-winning illustration & design studio based in Nashville, TN. Founder Joel Anderson and a group of talented artists have been creating hand-lettering, illustration and design since 1993. The ground floor of the studio is open to the public where a gallery and gift shop offers a wide selection of prints and gifts created by ADG & friends. Inspired by graphic design and travel art illustration from the late 1800s to the mid-1900s, we enjoy doing as much as possible by hand. We strive to create travel wall decor that looks like it was produced in the early part of the 20th century.

Fresh, Healthier Mediterranean Food

kebab house

Trout might not technically qualify as a kebab, but this flaky butterflied white fish is marinated with garlic, yogurt, and saffron and sports crispy, savory skin, and is worth ordering. Anna Ivanyan debuted this Armenian market in 2017, naming her business for an ancient city that Armenian king Tigranes the Great established which is now part of Turkey. Everything from the market’s large butcher case is available to grill by the pound over charcoal across the parking lot in Tigranakert’s production kitchen.

Biriyani

Spinach yogurt salad and Armenian salad both lend welcome brightness. The Kirakosyan family has parked their vivid truck in front of NoHo’s Royal Fresh Super Market since 2019. Armenian Lunch Truck serves excellent shawarma, and the action extends to the sidewalk, where cooks tend to an adjacent charcoal grill. Beef lule (ground meat), marinated pork ribs, and iki bir (cubed belly meat) are all notably luscious and smoky. Plates come with rice, Armenian salad, tzatziki (yogurt folded with minced cucumber), spicy tomato sauce, and grilled tomato and jalapeño.

Tehran Market

Less common delicacies include Cervena venison ribs, Kurobuta pork, and marinated branzino chunks. Aluminum containers come with grilled tomatoes and peppers. Supplement from a grab-and-go refrigerated case by the entrance, which showcases salads and dips like kidney beans, yogurt cucumber, and several eggplant preparations. This inconspicuous restaurant resides on Plaza Ararat’s back end in Unit Z and serves great charcoal-grilled kebabs to customers who eat at tables that wrap around trees. Their pork kebabs are particularly great, especially khrchik, bone-in rib tip chunks that still have cartilage attached. This cut provides a wonderful chew that sheyka (boneless baby pork) can’t match.

Scratch Kitchen

Start with luscious beef lule, marinated iki bir (pork belly), and beautifully charred marinated sweetbreads, which are a fairly uncommon find. Plates come with rice and plenty of salads and dips to fill the two other compartments in a Styrofoam container. Options include ikra, spicy, smoky eggplant dip; and sweet, creamy shredded beet salad sprinkled with crushed walnuts.

Berezka Market &Kitchen

Sarkisyan limits seasoning to salt, pepper, paprika, and onion so the meat still shines. Beef lule and chicken lule (a blend of thigh and breast meat) resemble juicy accordions. Bigger ticket items include succulent lamb chops and big rectangular sturgeon chunks with fatty skin. Sam Dumanyan is from a small town called Jrvezh located east of Yerevan in Armenia.

He marinates skewers in a proprietary marinade that includes olive oil, fresh and powdered garlic, onions, bell peppers, and saffron. These flavors and the charcoal smoke infuse wonderful flavor in koobideh (ground beef or chicken), salmon, chicken thighs, and Cornish game hen. Offal lovers will appreciate more intense lamb hearts and livers. Plates come with grilled vegetables, potent torshi (pickled vegetables), and either lavash or sangak, a pull-apart whole-wheat flatbread. Vernatoun is a restaurant and banquet hall that’s excelled at cooking Armenian comfort food in the back corner of a Glendale strip mall since 2021.

Before the pandemic, Art’s Bakery was best known for ponchiks, fluffy Armenian donuts with fillings like fruit and custard. Highlights include beef lule kebabs flecked with melted mozzarella and jalapeño, baby pork rib tips, and boneless country-style baby pork ribs. Plates come with fire-roasted tomato and mild Anaheim chile, lavash, raw onions and parsley, fluffy basmati rice or sliced oven-baked potatoes and a choice of two sides.

Emin Davoudi-Chigani runs Foothill Market & Deli in a Sunland strip mall and spun off the butcher shop as Meat Guys in early 2021. A printed menu lists proteins they can cook in an open-mouthed, stainless steel gas grill, but it’s just as easy to pull from display cases. The left case touts raw cuts like whole chicken, beef ribeye, and lamb leg. The right case holds marinated meats like pork baby back ribs, spicy chicken thighs, and lamb lule.

He first showcased the family’s culinary traditions at Aria Meat Market in Burbank, which dates to 2013. This butcher shop used to grill kebabs, and not just sell raw proteins. In 2021, they shifted grilling operations to nearby Aria BBQ. This grab-and-go strip mall restaurant with a steer horn logo offers no seating, but they do grill a la carte kebabs over gas, all available for sale by the skewer. Beef lule, chicken lule, and boneless chicken thighs are satisfying, but flame-red hot wings, drummettes infused with spicy paste, are even more addictive.

He had a restaurant there and after he moved to Los Angeles, opened his eponymous restaurant in Van Nuys in 2021. Sam’s Kebab touts waterfall and blue-sky photo murals and specializes in skewers that he plucks from an enticing display case by the register and grills over charcoal either out back or in front. Proshyan is a street in Yerevan with a historic reputation for barbecued meat. This nighttime stand in North Hollywood occupies a doublewide red pop-up tent on the sidewalk in front of El Super market and hangs a small Armenian flag by their spit.

Saghar Fanisalek hails from Shiraz and brings modern touches to Iranian cuisine at her sleek Westwood restaurant. She and Taste of Tehran even appeared on Top Chef Season 13. Cornish hen is also notable, marinated in yogurt, saffron, onion, particularly good with zereshk polo (barberry rice).

As previously noted, other Armenian meat markets also grill notable kebabs, but they require advance notice. Our special ingredients and cooking style is unique than other South Asian restaurant. We believe in tasty food which bring you back again and again. Biriyani Kabob House is proud is a family restaurant which give you home made style food experience. Our top quality food made by our top chef with our own recipe. At Panini Kabob Grill, we believe in taking the time to prepare every dish to order using fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Dvin Meat Market

Scored pork baby back ribs with crispy topside fat also stand out. Scour their refrigerated case for complementary salads and dips. Aria Butcher Shop also operates down Glenoaks Boulevard in Glendale, but they don’t grill at that location.

Tehran Market

Lump mesquite charcoal bags are piled up behind a kitchen window, giving customers a small taste of their process. Luscious lule (ground meat) skewers center on either beef chuck roll or chicken thigh, which get seasoned with onions and spices and beautifully express charcoal smoke. Pork baby back pork ribs sport nice sears that don’t actually lock in juices, as the myth states, but clearly still help boost eating enjoyment. Kebab plates come with rice, grilled tomato and pepper, and a potent red pepper sauce folded with onions, paprika and parsley.

Considering LA has such large populations from countries with kebab-rich traditions like Armenia and Iran, it’s natural that skewered meats are a strength across LA County. Prominent pockets in Glendale, North Hollywood, Sunland and the western San Fernando Valley are particularly strong. Of course, great kebabs aren’t completely limited to the (818) or the Middle East and Caucasus.

The Aquarium opened in 1988 and is considered one of Sydney’s premier tourist attractions. This vast area has been designed to host indoor and outdoor large-scale events such as festivals and live concerts, exhibitions, celebrations, and sporting events. Darling Harbour has also been officially recognized as Sydney’s best precinct for its great variety of dining, shopping and entertainment options. Also known as “The Coathanger” because of its arch-based design, Sydney’s world-recognized bridge opened in 1932 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The massive steel construction spans Sydney Harbour from the Central Business District to the North Shore and offers unmatched views of the city.

There is adequate seating in the cruise terminal, plus plenty of tables and chairs in the cafe area. After three minutes, turn left onto Gordon St. Use the left lane to turn right onto Victoria Rd./A40, then turn left onto Robert St and the terminal will be on your right. From the WestGet onto eastbound A4 until you take a right onto Great Western Hwy/Parramatta Rd./A44.

Buses also serve the city, and many depart a couple of minutes' walk from the Quay's terminal. There are plenty of shopping malls in the heart of the city, including Westfield Mall, Pitt Street Mall and the wonderful Queen Victoria Building, which is now a shopping mall featuring top designers. Seek out cutting boards made from local camphor laurel — they're not only beautiful but also have natural antimicrobial properties. During your Sydney cruise vacation, look for jewelry made from opal, the national gemstone of Australia. Extend your cruise vacation, and simplify your travel plans with a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your cruise.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Nearby, there is a weekly open-air market where visitors can browse for clothing, jewelry, crafts, and furniture. On the Kind Street Wharf, you’ll find numerous nightclubs, wine bars and bistros serving delicious fine food and amazing cocktails. One of the biggest Darling Harbour attractions is the world’s largest screen cinema at IMAX Theater Sydney, a movie theater chain known for presenting 3D films on giant screens. Sydney Buses #400 (prepay) runs to Bondi Junction form both airport terminals. Venue use is currently capped to 500 people for any type of on-site event.

Local Transportation

A third location for ships in the increasingly popular Sydney Harbour is a tender position out beyond the Sydney Opera House. Sydney is a well-balanced blend of a big city lifestyle and the laid-back Australian mentality. Tourism is a huge industry around Sydney, and locals are accustomed to providing visitors with service, helpful directions and a rousing welcome to the stunning city that they call home. Cruise from Sydney and head ‘across the ditch’ to New Zealand, Australia’s closest neighbour. There is a cafe selling hot beverages along with light finger food and snacks in the terminal building. There are sheltered taxi stands available at each of Sydney Airport's terminals. Curbside assistants are available to help those requiring assistance, such as wheelchairs, children, large luggage and more.

Sydney’s Kingsford International Airport is 13 kilometres from the terminal, which is about 30 minutes in a taxi. But be sure to allow enough time for traffic, especially at peak commuting times. You can be dropped off and picked up via George Street and Argyle Street, but there’s no short or long-term parking at the terminal itself. Chinatown is located a minute drive from Sydney cruise port (from both terminals) each way depending on the traffic.

There are also several places to dine, drink and shop at the terminal itself. On April 9, 2018, the new China-built gantry crane (by ZPMC / "Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries") was delivered at Sydney Container Terminal. Same ZPMC cranes (serving large container ships) were also delivered and installed in Brisbane (one, in April) and Melbourne (two, in March).

For guests arriving at the airport, cruise lines offer transfers by coach to the new terminal. P&O charges AU$22 per person each way, as well as post-cruise transfers from the ship to Central Railway Station for AU$15 per person. If you don't have a lot of luggage and don't mind a bit of a walk (around 1.6km or 1 mile), the nearest regular train station is Wolli Creek and the fare is only $4.71 (Oct 2022, peak) and avoids the airport access fee. When crossing the river, make sure you cross on the right (north) side since there is a center barrier in the middle of the street on the other side. Sydney Trains offers train services throughout Sydney, and there’s a train station called the Circular Quay within walking distance of the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Just a few minutes’ walk from the terminal is The Rocks, which is a popular neighborhood where you can find street food and handmade fashion items.

Instead, enter James Craig Road via The Crescent and follow the signs to the terminal. Please ignore the direct route suggested by your GPS device as you will be denied access at the Robert Sreet gates and asked to return to The Crescent. One of the most exclusive places is the award-winning Esca Bimbadgen winery, set in the beautiful Australian countryside and known for its outstanding high-class service and exquisite food and wine pairing experience. This VIP experience is absolutely memorable as the whole place is scenic and offers wonderful service, with venues for weddings, honeymoon getaways and high-class dinners. Located in the Darling Harbour precinct on the western edge of the Central business district, Wild Life Sydney Zoo is the only wildlife park in Sydney.

You’ll soon realize that Papua New Guinea is a place that’s not easily forgotten. Passengers are required to bring this document along with a passport for international cruises and a government-issued ID for a domestic cruise. Family and friends are welcome to share in your excitement and wave farewell from the arrivals area of White Bay Cruise Terminal or the patio area of the café.

Drivers may not linger at the terminal and must drop off passengers quickly. However, they can park nearby if they plan to stay in the area for more than a few moments. The port's cruise schedule has ships operating on Cruises to Nowhere, roundtrip itineraries to ports in Queensland, Tasmania, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands (New Caledonia, Fiji, Vanuatu). Longer (repositioning) cruises go to ports in Asia (some all the way to China and Japan) and North America (via Honolulu Hawaii).

If you decide to walk, it will take you 40 min to 1 hour to get there. Public transportation is the most common and convenient way to get from Sydney Airport. Direct train, bus and ferry services operate from the airport to the Overseas Passenger Terminal. All Sydney public transportation will take you to Circular Quay at the terminal. Sydney Cruise Port is the busiest Australian homeport and ship travel destination.

Plus, our experienced travel consultants have access to exclusive vacation deals to make sure you get the best value for your time and money. Remove the hassle from air travel and give yourself the gift of flexibility, time and a thicker wallet with Princess EZair flights. We negotiate lower rates with the airlines, allow you to modify your flight up to 45 days prior with no penalty and protect you if your flight is late or canceled.

If the ship can fit within the 49m space between the water line and the base of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, chances are your ship will depart from White Bay. Unfortunately the facility is a little more difficult to reach without a direct car or taxi, but it’s not impossible and in fact has become easier recently. The White Bay Cruise Terminal at Rozelle is only 6 kilometres from the centre of Sydney and 17 kilometres from the airport. There is short-term parking and access to the terminal via James Craig Road. The Sydney light rail network is the train system used within the city. The closest light rail station is Rozelle Bay Station, which is a five-minute drive from the terminal.

Alaska Weather What to Expect and When to Visit on a Cruise

alaska cruise weather june

The warming weather allows cruise ships to travel through the Arctic waters providing unique opportunities for passengers. To truly enjoy an Alaskan cruise, cruisers can visit from April to October when daylight hours, weather and wildlife are better. Explore Alaskan cruises and learn more about each fun-filled trip to the 49th state. Cruise season in Alaska continues to expand and now there are cruises from April to October. However, for many reasons, June is still considered one of the best months to cruise to Alaska.

Tours

Boat tours often visit this glacier, providing awe-inspiring views and opportunities to witness calving events, where chunks of ice break off and plunge into the water. Aialik Glacier is typically only seen on longer boat cruises of more than 6 hours as it is in the farther reaches of the national park. Boat tours range from a few hours to full-day excursions that take you deep into the park, offering opportunities to see glaciers, wildlife, and scenic landscapes.

Cruise to Alaska from April to October for an Incomparable Life Experience

alaska cruise weather june

The average rainfall is nearly seven inches, and it rains 16 days on average. By being prepared and packing the right clothing and accessories, you can fully embrace the beauty and wonders of Alaska during your June cruise. Whether you’re exploring pristine wilderness, admiring towering glaciers, or encountering incredible wildlife, you’ll be ready to take on the adventures that await you.

What is Hiking Like in June?

The Exit Glacier area offers well-maintained trails of varying difficulty providing access to the stunning Exit Glacier itself. Guided hikes are available, offering informative insights into the park’s geology, flora, and fauna. The Horseshoe Lake Trail is a short, moderate hike located near the Denali Visitor Center. It is approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) round trip and offers views of Horseshoe Lake and the surrounding mountains. The trail winds through forested areas and crosses a boardwalk over wetland habitats.

Yes, we highly suggest a balcony cabin as it is definitely worth it on an Alaska cruise. The view is constantly changing, and you can see mountains, wilderness, glaciers, or quaint waterfront communities. Alaska is known as the “Land of the Midnight Sun” due to the long days that can occur from April through September. Small ships offer a more intimate and personalized way of exploring Alaska. They visit remote waterways that are inaccessible to larger ships, and you can get up close to glaciers and wildlife such as whales.

Summer is the peak season for tourism and considered the best time for Alaska cruises, and for good reason. And with the tourism industry in full swing, you’ll find more services and a seemingly endless list of activities to take part in. But you won’t be alone — more stuff to do and nicer weather in Alaska means more people — and the prices will generally be a bit higher. This month also experiences near constant cloud cover with a good chance of rain on any given day. Travelers get at least fifteen hours of daylight and twilight in May, providing more time for whale watching and other outdoor activities. With low wind speeds, cold temperatures, and precipitation, travelers may want to pack plenty of knit sweaters, a jacket, warm pants, and waterproof boots or shoes.

alaska cruise weather june

This layer provides insulation and warmth when the temperatures dip or when you’re in areas with cooler breezes. It’s important to choose materials that are easy to move in and allow for flexibility. Start with a comfortable base layer such as a lightweight, moisture-wicking shirt. This will help keep you dry and comfortable, especially on those warmer days. Opt for breathable materials like cotton or synthetic fabrics that dry quickly.

Temperatures are relatively mild, with daytime highs in the upper 40s and into the 50s depending on where you're visiting and cloud cover. The glaciers along your route will be cracking like mad, so make sure your July cruise swings by Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, or other scenic cruising destinations. If you’re planning an Alaska cruise in June, temperatures average a low of 45 and a high of 62. May tends to be slightly rainier than June and July, with a slight chance of snow earlier in the month. Kenai Fjords National Park offers several hiking trails easily accessed near Exit Glacier.

GMs big bet on driverless cars turns sour

gm cruise ceo

The operation lost more than $700 million in the third quarter of this year on its plans to expand operations to 15 U.S. cities. Former Tesla President Jon McNeill, a GM director since 2022, was named vice chairman of the Cruise board alongside Barra, who is the chair. Vogt's resignation came after GM and the board at Cruise increased their scrutiny of its leadership.

He will be replaced by Cruise founder Kyle Vogt

"The results of our ongoing reviews will inform additional next steps as we work to build a better Cruise centered around safety, transparency and trust," the company said in a statement. "We will continue to advance AV technology in service of our mission to make transportation safer, cleaner and more accessible." "Today I resigned from my position as CEO of Cruise," co-founder Kyle Vogt wrote in a post on twitter.com. "The startup I launched in my garage has given over 250,000 driverless rides across several cities, with each ride inspiring people with a small taste of the future," he also wrote. The CEO of self-driving car firm Cruise resigned yesterday following an accident in which a Cruise robotaxi dragged a pedestrian 20 feet.

Jon McNeill, a member of GM’s board, has been appointed vice chairman of the Cruise board. McNeill, who joined the Cruise board recently and was previously chief operating officer at Lyft and president of Tesla, will now serve alongside Cruise Board Chair Mary Barra. The automaker’s driverless car subsidiary, Cruise, announced last night the resignation of Kyle Vogt as CEO. The decision came over a month after an incident in which a hit-and-run victim became pinned under a Cruise vehicle and then was dragged 20 feet to the side of the road.

GM announces Cruise CEO Dan Ammann is stepping down

Employee discontent was further inflamed last week when Cruise suspended its employee share-selling program for the fourth quarter. Sources who spoke to TechCrunch on the condition of anonymity said they could lose upwards of tens of thousands of dollars as a result of this decision. But Ammann also oversaw some setbacks, most noticeably the decision to delay a planned launch of a robotaxi service in San Francisco in 2019. The company has yet to commit to a new date but has implied it will be in 2022.

"As for what's next for me, I plan to spend time with my family and explore some new ideas. Thanks for the great ride!" Vogt wrote. By Andrew J. Hawkins, transportation editor with 10+ years of experience who covers EVs, public transportation, and aviation. On top of that, Cruise continues to hemorrhage cash, losing $728 million in Q3 and $8 billion since inception according to Reuters. GM CEO Mary Barra has remained supportive of Cruise, but GM's technical partner Honda has reportedly frozen further investment in the firm.

Vogt and Kan, who more recently held the chief product officer role, founded the autonomous vehicle company in 2013. Initially, the pair had focused on kits that could retrofit a vehicle and turn it into a self-driving car. GM took interest and acquired the company in March 2016 in a deal of cash and stock valued at more than $1 billion. In a separate internal email, also viewed by TechCrunch, GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra announced that Mo Elshenawy, who is executive vice president of engineering at Cruise, will serve as president and CTO for Cruise. Craig Glidden, a Cruise board member and GM’s EVP of legal and policy who was recently put in charge as chief administrative officer at Cruise, will continue in that role.

Honda and Nissan join forces on electric car technology to chase Chinese rivals

Other car companies have sought to put some distance between themselves and the startups working on self-driving cars. But GM has stayed bullish, insisting that the billions of dollars it was sinking into the technology (GM has lost $8.2 billion on Cruise since 2017) would eventually result in a safer future — and a huge payout for the company. Cruise was hit with an indefinite suspension by the California DMV covering both its testing and deployment permits for autonomous robotaxis. The suspension in the state came during an ongoing investigation into an incident involving one of the vehicles in October.

Tesla’s latest update takes aim at cold weather woes

GM CEO Mary Barra would routinely invite him to appear on earnings calls or to speak at investor conferences in a sign that the automaker was fully invested in Cruise. Barra herself went onstage at CES in 2022 and declared that GM would sell fully autonomous vehicles, powered by Cruise’s technology, to regular people by mid-decade. In October, the California Department of Motor Vehicles ordered Cruise to remove its driverless cars from state roads, calling them a risk to the public and saying the company had misrepresented the safety of its technology. Cruise competes with Alphabet’s Waymo in deploying autonomous vehicles and had been testing hundreds in several cities across the U.S., notably its home of San Francisco. His decision follows weeks of turmoil at the unit, which had to pull all its vehicles from testing in the United States to conduct a safety review after an Oct. 2 accident that ended with one of Cruise's self-driving taxis dragging a pedestrian. Ammann is the latest CEO of an AV company to step aside as the industry struggles to meet its own over-inflated expectations about the future of driverless cars.

GM executives, including CEO and Chair Mary Barra, had hoped the startup would be ramping up a driverless transportation network this year, and hoped Cruise would play a notable role in doubling the company's revenue by 2030. Vogt confirmed his resignation Sunday night in a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter. He did not give a reason for the resignation, and said he plans "to spend time with my family and explore some new ideas."

GM acquired Cruise in 2016 to speed up its self-driving car development program. Ammann, who was then the president of GM, oversaw the acquisition and later assumed the role of CEO of the company. Vogt wanted Cruise to dominate the market much in the same way that Uber dominated Lyft. But in truth, Uber’s failed effort to launch driverless cars turned out to be way more instructive. The initial layoffs included contract workers who had jobs cleaning, charging and maintaining the vehicles as well as answering customer support inquiries.

Mo Elshenawy, Cruise’s executive vice president of engineering, will become president and chief technology officer. It said Craig Glidden also will serve as president and continue as chief administrative officer for Cruise, an appointment announced earlier. Mo Elshenawy, Cruise's executive vice president of engineering, will become president and chief technology officer. The troubled self-driving car unit didn’t announce a new CEO but said Mo Elshenawy, currently executive vice president of engineering, will serve as president and chief technology officer. The California Department of Motor Vehicles suspended Cruise's deployment and testing permits for its autonomous vehicles after that incident. "When there is an unreasonable risk to public safety, the DMV can immediately suspend or revoke permits," the regulators said in a statement at the time.

The last 10 years have been amazing, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped Cruise along the way. The startup I launched in my garage has given over 250,000 driverless rides across several cities, with each ride inspiring people with a small taste of the future. GM CEO Mary Barra said in an email to employees seen by Reuters that Glidden will serve as Cruise's co-president with Mo Elshenawy, who will also become chief technology officer. The Cruise board met on Nov. 13 and the next day named GM general counsel Craig Glidden as Cruise's chief administrative officer. The board also said it would retain a third-party safety expert to assess safety operations and culture. Cruise had been testing 300 robotaxis during the day when it could only give rides for free, and 100 robotaxis at night when it was allowed to charge for rides in less congested parts of San Francisco.

The Best Napali Sunset Cruise How To Choose A Boat Tour

captain andy's sunset cruise

My original boat tour was booked for early in my trip in January 2022, but it was cancelled due to the torrential rain and storm surge we were experiencing. However, we were able to go a few days later and the sea conditions were perfect, and we had incredible weather. Tours depart from the North Shore and West/Southwest Kauai in summer. Plus, in the summer or during calm conditions, you can snorkel and visit caves along the coast. Some companies offer sunset snorkel tours, but this is rare in winter. Combining a morning exploring Waimea Canyon and Koke’e State Park with a Na Pali sunset dinner cruise would be a great way to get to know the island of Kauai.

Sit back and take in the Sun’s daily departure

Although, we were extremely lucky to have relatively calm seas on our Na Pali sunset boat cruise. On this Na Pali Coast sunset cruise, you will enjoy the views of Niihau, another Hawaiian island, as you leave the port and head up the coast. There are so many different options for seeing the Na Pali Coast, it can be hard to choose which one. Your choice of Kauai boat tours will depend on different priorities, for example, seasickness, photography, snorkelling, wildlife, and meals. When it comes to service, we go for food and beverage menus that are refreshing, Hawaii-inspired, delicious, satisfying, and easy-to-eat. We’ve got juices, sodas, domestic & Hawaii craft beers, hard seltzers, red & white wine, sparkling wine, and our signature Koloa Rum Mai Tai.

Tours

Trips may be canceled (refunded or applied to another trip) due to inclement weather, based on captain’s discretion. We will make every effort to cancel a trip prior to your arrival, if possible. However, unforeseen weather does happen and we may have to make last minute cancellations. As we headed to see the sunset, we were met by a group of dolphins which followed us for a while. They were seemingly everywhere and there had to be over 30.

How to Choose a Na Pali Boat Tour in Kauai?

Choose from our luxury Star Class Yachts, spacious Classic Sailing Adventures, or adrenaline-pumping zodiac rafts. Whichever vessel you select, rest assured that our top priority is your comfort, safety, and enjoyment. Our knowledgeable and friendly crew members are here to provide captivating storytelling, fascinating historical insights, and expert guidance throughout your journey. Depending on the type of Na Pali Coast boat tour you select, the duration of a morning for full-day Na Pali Coast boat tour can range from 4 to 7.5 hours. I chose not to do a Na Pali snorkel tour because I wanted to go on an afternoon tour that would offer optimal light to view and photograph the coast. As I mentioned, the morning tours are those that offer the snorkelling.

We recognize the proper use of the Hawaiian language including the ‘okina [‘], a consonant, and the kahakō [ō] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai‘i such as Līhuʻe). However, these have been omitted from this website for the best online experience for our visitors. We realize the importance and use them outside of the online platform. The morning is the best time of day of day for a Na Pali Coast tour if you are looking for calmer seas and the chance of seeing dolphins. As I mentioned previously, I went on Captain Andy’s Napali Sunset Dinner Cruise (Star), and it was an incredible experience. The Na Pali sunset tour was well organised and the crew were faultless.

Before our trip to Hawaii, I spent plenty of time planning and booking our flights, hotels and rental cars. As we set off on our way towards the Na Pali Coast the crew started serving beverages, such as wine, Sneaky Tikis (similar to Mai Tais) and soft drinks. I chose the Star Dinner Sunset Sail with Capt Andy’s, which uses a 65′ luxury catamaran.

Breakfast, lunch, and beverages are included in this action-packed adventure for the whole family. They say it’s the journey and not the destination, but Napali might be the exception to the rule—Kauai’s northwest coast is truly something to behold. We always find ourselves saying, “It never gets old,” because the Napali Coast has a way of humbling us with her magnificence, every single day. It’s the rainbows and the dolphins and the way the Cathedrals break through low-lying clouds. It’s the waterfalls, and the birds flying through Honopu Arch. Even when conditions aren’t “perfect”, Napali always seems to have a way of showing the love and making the trip special.

The Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail is their premier “dinner with a view” experience. Passengers will enjoy a panoramic view of the entire coastline from Haena to Milolii, with the “forbidden” island of Ni’ihau in the distance. Each day is unique, as the light reacts with clouds and landscapes. The original Kauai sunset cruise along Na Pali Coast on a custom 55' Gold Coast catamaran. On most days the Hawaiian tradewinds are blowing from the East, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once we reach our turnaround point.

You should either schedule your boat tour while on the South Shore or be willing to make the long drive over. Something important to note when booking your Na Pali Coast boat tour is that tours depart from different locations even though they are going to the same place. Continue reading to read my review on the best Napali sunset cruise. I visited Kauai in early January 2022 and one of my favourite activities was the Napali sunset cruise.

Not only did the Na Pali sunset cruise provide some of the best photo opportunities on Kauai, but it was also a fun experience. Appetizers -“buffalo” chicken wings with dip, pineapple/fruit trays, pretzels, and vegetable crudités, assorted soft drinks, sneaky tikis (tropical cocktails), along with beer and wine.
